Daphne Owen
Dr. Daphne Owen is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine. Prior to pursuing Medicine, Dr. Owen studied Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Highest Honors. She lived and worked in Peru, Mexico, and Laos, where she studied poverty and access to healthcare. Dr. Owen attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also completed Emergency Medicine residency. Dr. Owen has been a long-time volunteer at Puentes de Salud, a nonprofit health and wellness organization for uninsured communities in Philadelphia, and currently serves as the organization’s Director of Clinical Education. Dr. Owen’s clinical and academic interests include poverty, advocacy, and improving health disparities. Dr. Owen has received the Next Generation Leader Award from the United Way, the Vaidya Humanism in Medicine Award from the Philadelphia Medical Society, and was named among the “Outstanding Doctors of 2018” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
