Chau Phung

Chau is a first-year medical student from Houston, TX. She and her family immigrated to the U.S. from Vietnam in 2016. Chau graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Neuroscience. Before medical school, she worked as a student success coach at City Year Dallas (Americorps) to help inner-city high school students earn academic success, improve their attendance, learn social-emotional skills, and develop positive behaviors at school. At Penn, Chau is passionate about promoting surgical equity by joining the Center for Surgical Health as a lead PPN. Chau is also a webmaster for apenndx which is the Penn Med student magazine and a social and research chair for Penn Global Surgery Group. In her free time, Chau enjoys spending time with her dog Noodle and some of her hobbies include cooking and reading.
