Angela Chen is an MD/PhD candidate at Penn, with her PhD training from the Department of Health Care Management and Economics at Wharton. She graduated Penn in 2016 with a BS in Economics and a minor in Chemistry. The following year she studied at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China as a member of the inaugural class of Schwarzman Scholars.
Since then, she has had the privilege of working with groups at the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at Penn, the China Health Partnership at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Orthopaedic and Arthritis Center for Outcomes Research at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Her research interests include access to care, women's health, and global health care systems.
At Penn, Angela has served on the board of the Global Oncology Student Group, was a founding board member of apenndx (Penn Med’s student-run magazine), and served as a Lead Personal Patient Navigator (PPN) for Women’s Health at CSH. In her free time, she enjoys being active (running, tennis, trying to rock climb), spending time with family, and playing piano and violin.
